Meet Adrienn

Adrienn Katona

Founder of Functional Yoga Fusion

My name is Adrienn Katona, and movement has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. From childhood, sport and physical activity shaped who I am, which naturally led me to qualify as a Personal Trainer. I loved helping others through fitness, but over time I felt something was missing. Then yoga found me, and everything changed.

I spent three years studying at Bhaktivedanta College in Budapest, graduating as a yoga teacher in 2015. What I discovered there went far beyond postures and sequences. Yoga brought together movement, breath, mindfulness and self-awareness in a way that nothing else had, and I was completely captivated by its capacity to support both physical and emotional wellbeing.

During my studies, I was diagnosed with a serious spinal condition. It was a turning point. This experience transformed my own practice and deepened my understanding of functional anatomy and therapeutic movement. It also gave me something I carry into every class I teach: the belief that yoga should never be about pushing the body beyond its limits, but about moving with intelligence, balance and respect for each individual's needs.

This philosophy became the foundation of Functional Yoga Fusion, my own approach to movement that blends traditional yoga, functional anatomy, mindful breathing, aromatherapy and deep relaxation to support the body as a whole. Every class is designed not only to help you move better, but to help you feel better, with benefits that extend far beyond the mat.

Since 2019, I have been welcoming students to my boutique yoga studio in Aberdeen. I keep my group classes intentionally small, because I believe that real progress happens when you feel seen, supported and guided as an individual. Whether you are working around an injury, managing stress, building strength or simply exploring yoga for the first time, every session is adapted to your body and your needs.

I believe yoga should never feel intimidating. My aim is to create a space where everyone feels comfortable and welcome, regardless of age, flexibility or experience.

Alongside small group classes, I also offer private sessions for individuals, couples, families and small groups of up to four people, tailored entirely to your goals and pace.

Aromatherapy and infrared sauna therapy are woven into the Functional Yoga Fusion experience, because true wellbeing goes beyond movement alone. Carefully selected, therapeutic-grade essential oils complement each practice, while our private infrared sauna offers the perfect space to ease tired muscles, release tension and restore after class, or simply as a standalone wellness experience whenever you need to recharge.

Whether you are brand new to yoga or have been practising for years, I look forward to welcoming you, to a space where movement, mindfulness and wellbeing come together, helping you feel stronger, calmer and more connected, both on and off the mat.
